Does Salt Lake City have a sizable gay community?

I was having a conversation the other day with a friend about different gay communities in cities. We brought up Salt Lake City as an example, as it has a very very conservative reputation.

So the question is, does Salt Lake City have a gay village? Is there a large community there or is it still mostly closeted?

Actually, there is an active gay community in SLC. I don't know how large it is, (I'm not gay) but I know they have a parade every year and there are gay/straight alliance groups in a few of the high schools.

Unfortunately, Utah also has one of the highest rates of young male suicides. And some feel that this is due to issues of homosexuality and the social pressures and influence of the LDS church.

But there is a gay community, they are active, and there isn't the anti backlash like there is in say, Laramie WY. :(

Yes, Salt Lake City dose in fact have a active gay community, its Sugar House, it in fact is a large active community, they have a awesome gay theater, shops and a coffee house, and even parks. and also SLC has a tons of night clubs, and holds the largest Pride in the Northwest (outside of Denver)
I did a simple google search "gay in salt lake city" and got results.
