Hospitality Management is a good career, but that degree limits you to that one field; a Business degree is applicable to many more fields, including hotel management, so it will give you more options.

A business degree is a general one, giving you an opportunity to work in many different areas in case you decide you do not like hospitality management. You might also want to go on to a bachelor's degree, and that is also an easier option with a general business degree, which is also viewed as more challenging than a Hospitality Management degree.

If you eventually want to start your own business, go the general business route and eventually major in accounting. Not only will you learn how businesses are run and the operational, financial and legal issues they face, you will also learn how to do your own bookkeeping and tax returns. This is useful because you will save money by not having to pay someone else to do this when your business is young and probably not yet profitable. Good luck....
